Arthurton House

The project subtly reconfigures an existing federation house using a circular rammed earth wall as the hearth of the dwelling. The circular drum, which contains a cantilever stair acting as an architectural device – a social hub for the house, where daylight is brought right into the heart of the home; an interface to mediate between the social living space and the more private studio and upper floor terrace; an indoor garden where nature blends into the living, quite literally as a live-in terrarium.
