Gunyama Park and Aquatic Centre
The Gunyama Park and Aquatic Centre is a collaboration between LLDS and EnLocus Landscape Architects. The projects explore architecture as land form emerging from a tabular rasa context. The aquatic center with its oyster shaped pool is the main focus of the park. The landscape strategy ‘breaks down’ the potentially non-discrete sports field into a more fluid event space while maintaining its spots function. This is express through a gradient of colour which blend and merges the edge of the field with the park. Barnacle like form infested across the landscape and into the Aquatic center providing opportunity for play and appropriation. Public space should allow opportunity for the user to explore and determine their destiny.
